About Us

First of all, we would like to thank Willow Tree Stud,Sarah&Hazel Elliot,Wendy Daniels and Gemma Morris for our wonderful stock to start us with our Hobby.We would also like to thank Phil Batey for giving us the opportunity on doing a project with Red French Lops.This is a colour we have wanted to do for some years now and phil kindly agreed to help us with getting us a couple of Red French Lops from Holland .Thankyou phil your a star.We hope that you enjoy looking at our site, why not let us know what you think by signing the guest book.

Our names our John & Mandy, Father & Daughter. We live on the Wirral, Merseyside, which is just off the M53.


FEEDING

Our Rabbits are fed on Allen+Page Breeder+Grower Pellets for Rabbits, along with Readigrass, Hay and washed Vegatables.We also add Carr's EntraCare Aqua to their water daily.

CLEANING

We clean our hutches out 2 times a week with Virkon's (The Ultimate Broad Spetrum Virucidal Disinfectant.) In independent tests proven effective against all 18 virus families affecting man and animals. It is especially effective against E.coli 0157, salmonella & Campylobacter.

Veterinary Surgeries use this disinfectant for all surfaces, equipment and utensils. Also used inncatteries, stables cages and other animal accommodations.

We use Thorough Bred Shavings for bedding.

We are BRC members and we exhibit.Please check out our show results on the named rabbit pages .

All are frenchies are large and have the typical chunky features and are very friendly.

Information

Lifespan on average for the French Lop Rabbit can be up to 5 years or more.

Breeding French Lops

The ideal age for the female French Lop Rabbit to start breeding is 9 months of age. The first litter must be born before the female is 1 year old.

Average Litter Size
The French Lop Rabbit can produce large litters, usually between 5 - 12 kits (baby bunnies).

Gestation Period
The gestation period for the French Lop Rabbit is between 28 - 34 days. On average they give birth between 30 - 32 days.

Characteristics of The French Lop Rabbit

Suitability for Children
The French Lop Rabbit is one of the many breeds of rabbits that is suitable for children, however you should remember that they will grow to be quite large and will require constant care. The character and temperament of the French Lop are normally very docile. However whilst many of this breed are good natured and friendly, some do have bad tempers just like people!!

Show Characteristics
The French Lop is a large rabbit which is heavy boned. Their bodies are broad, deep and well muscled. Their heads are quite wide, having good width between the eyes. They have long, thick ears that measure between 11 - 15 inches (measured from the tip of one ear to the tip of the other ear).

Rabbit Intelligence
Pet rabbits can became trained to recognise their names. They are more intelligent than guinea pigs and hamsters and will certainly get to recognise you and the sounds you make. With this in mind it helps to make the same sounds each time you approach them.

Colour
The French Lop comes in a variety of colours including natural or 'wild' colour (agouti), black, butterfly, chincilla, blue, opal,Rew, orange and sooty fawn.

Types of Coat
French Lops have dense and soft coats. You can add extra shine to their coat by stroking them. The natural oil from your hands will add a shine.
